Good to see Gemma is filling out nicely... err.. I mean in that you're drawings are more detailed now.

Nice detail in the background - good to see that Sun headline making a reappearance.

They do have an interesting line in pets don't they? What's the penguin thing?

Dude - that girl is 15 - and she has no mouth - wait a minute - the perfect combination.

As for the penguin thing, you'll just have to wait and see, unless of course someelse knows who he is, and what his title is.

WTF is with that crazy-ass dead penguin thing???

being the huge fan of Edward Gorey (and repository of utterly useless trivia) that i am, i immediately recognized the Doubtful Guest. i'm even more curious about the lumpy green alien looking thing. i can't wait to see what happens next.

Each time I see your Strangways...I almost don't recognize it because each one is getting better and better, and more professional looking. You should be doing this for a living, incidentally, what do you do again? Short term memory. Sorry.

Whatchya guys - Hats off to Faltanus - the grey penguin thing with white canvas shoes is indeed the title character from Edward Gorey's book, 'The Doubtful Guest'. He has totally redeemed himself after a very poor guess of what the reference for Nexus 6 was in my previous post.

Well done Faltanus!!!

Lisa - I think a couple of the guys previously identified the little green fella as a Triffid, from John Wyndhams 'Day of the Triffid'. I now have a new blog commentator by the name of Wyndham the Triffid who i suggest you pop in and say 'hi' to. Infact, everybody visit everybody else.

Lovely.

Rowan, once again thank you for your kind words. The strip (i hope) is developing in each part - the next, hopefully will better this one - I'll say this, it does look quite different.

Either that's a very industrial looking back door in the kitchen or a VERY BIG built in freezer. Now Herge, what would a nice sane little family like the Strangeways be doing with a giant freezer like that? hmmm?

Herge Smith said...

Nice one MHN!!! I was worried that no one had noticed the 're-enforced' door.

It's not a freezer door, but it may contain a freezer or two...

Hmmm...

You will find out more soon (I think in part 10)

Excellent, I love the way the characters and the household are developing. Can't wait to see how this goes.

Cheers Herge, you're ace!

I like how the Triff tried the dog food and hurled it back at the dog.

It was as if to say, "Blast you dumb mangy mutt! Have you no more self respect than to eat that tripe!"

Nice work Herge, this looks fantastic. Looking forward to more.

Why is the welcome mat the wrong way round? Is that deliberate or did the fuck-up fairy pay you a visit?

Suddenly everyone's a critic!

Casaaqua - tis true what you say, and so does mine, but you have to remember that the dialogue in comics is typically top/down and then left to right. If the dialogue appears to be the wrong way round is cause I ran out of space/ could be arsed to shoe horn it properly.

I've tried to address this more in the next installment.

Trill - yep, mat was a mistake - bugger. Did I have it the other way round before? I'll check.... no i didn't, erm... it was all intended that way. Yep. That's my story - it's all part of the master plan.

Faltanus - Soz mate, you can either;

A. Go to an internet cafe whilst on hols,

B Look forward to some fab posts when you get back.

Have a nice holiday matey.

WATCHYA Jessie!! how ya doing?

Herge Smith said...

Okay then, just for you Mr/Miss/Ms/Mrs Anon, I will publish a new one.

I think anonymous is stealing your cards and you'll soon see them on sale in Clinton's at £2.50 a throw!

Herge Smith said...

You're welcome MWAH!

Tina - Good luck to them, hope they have more success than me in getting a card publisher to take them

Herge success = 0%

I really can't believe they haven't snapped them up. I truly think they are fantastic and I think they'd sell really well! If I was a apublisher, I'd buy them off you.

The cards look like something you find at Urban Outfitters or a smoke shop. That's a good thing.
