I agree with him on this one, Star Wars is crap.

Kenny said...

Seconded. Star Wars is shite.

Star Wars is the best! Bring on Revenge of the Sith! Ok, so Jar-Jar was a big mistake but George Lucas is only human and is entitled to err on occasion...

Sniffy said...

This needs to stop before it starts.

But there's no point arguing with me because I'm right.

Yes Tina you are right....Star Wars is crap. I saw the first one way back when (was the the late 70s or early 80s? - really who cares!)and have never seen another since.

Sniffy said...

Exactly the same as me April. I was drawn along with the hype when I was 6 or 7 and I admit that I enjoyed Star Wars. However, I've never had any interest in seeing any of the others.

I'm going to throw another into the hat now and say that, all things considered, the Lord of the Rings films were pretty piss poor too. Why? Too much fucking stupid comedy from the Hobbits and Golem, that fucking dwarf that nobody could understand (Gimli?), the extras were shit.

Tina, I agree about the Lord of the Rings. Watched the first one, thought it was shite, didn't bother with the rest. I do like Star Wars though but not obsessively so, I'm not a bloke for crying out loud!

Also, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy film was over-hyped and a big disappointment in my opinion. And I should know.

My own blog, and I'm too nervous to write my opinion on it....

erm...

Trillion - I also thought HHGTHG movie was shite, you were way better on TV and particularly the radio shows. What were you thinking in the film? Love interest!?! Oh come on!

Weenie - Jar Jar was the best, and when Phantom Menace is re-evaluated in years to come... people will see he rules.

Andy - 1st John Stewart and now The Wars... oh dear me.

Tina - you have, as always a free pass to take any stance, any position and I will not argue. You are after all, the Sniffer of cakes.

April - that would be 1977 - not that I'm a fan or anything, not of the original 'holy' trilogy anyway...

erm...

God that Dave is a cunt! Dissin' sweary women and now the Wars... prick.

I love Star Wars...So that must make me the only sad fucker here!

Sorry, I'm degrading myself, I'll get my coat...

Although, in my defence, (ha!) I'm a bit dubious about the new one, which I haven't seen, and don't even know if I will.

When you're living life on the edge, a fantasy film can really make me forget the 'real world' Even if it is for only a few hours. That's not not such a bad thing, is it?

I like to think not! But then, you lot will probably disagree :(

Sam, who used to own her own light saber and likes to dress up as princess Lea...

Lord of the Rings - Crap. Saw the first and couldn't bother to see the sequels. Tried watching the second one but fell asleep.

Ohhh, now I'm feeling old Tina if you were only 6 or 7 back then. 1977 'twas a good year - I think I broke my leg that year....? Hmmmm, anyway crap I say, crap.

A Blogger - It's funny, I had a discussion with a close friend yesterday about computer games, and how they are brilliant if you have a really stressful day, or are worried about something - they can completely take your mind off whatever the problem is and give you a real boost.

Okay, I've now officially outed myself as a geekoid loser.

Oops.

Sniffy said...

I love you, Herge.

Herge Smith said...

Ta very much.

I'm worried this is becoming a bit of a 'love in'.

We need more spite!

More violence!

More knocking down the walls of social/ policital/ sexual/ other al with our blogs of rage!!!

And to that end my next blog will be about....

Knitting.

I'm planning something REALLY BIG over at Cakesniffers, don't you worry. Actually, everybody should be very, very scared.

Is anybody else on ntl here? Fucking e-mail's been down all bastard day!

Herge Smith said...

Nah, I'm Pipex, which is pronounced either PIPE X - or PIP EX - I got PIPE X, sounds more space age.

How big is BIG!! What ya gonna do? can we have a hint? Should I be scared?

I'm actually planning more of the same old shite - I have about 50 of these Dave things stored up (I did them all in one hit last week - just incase I'm ever out of action) - I will do one off's such as the last one which was based on Aprils christian.

I do have another gameshow in the wings... maybe unveiled tomorrow.

I'm a bit worried that it's a bit close to edge this time.

Oh fuck, publish and be damned.

I saw the original SW in Larrnnndan, darn Sarf. I too was about 7. It was crap then. It's shite now. I need no more.

And that statue of Petra was shite too.

And as far as love-ins go. I want no part, unless Kyra Phillips promises me she will attend.

Herge Smith said...

Andy, there will be no 'love ins' on my watch.

But if there is Ms Phillips has promised that she will be reporting from the scene, as far as her involvement goes, well that's up to you and your charms - sadly though, I hear she's a HUGE Star Wars fan.

Karen said...

Episode II was crap but I LOVE Star Wars!

Herge - I may need to start a "Kill Dave" campaign.

Herge Smith said...

Karen, ya gotta do, what you gotta do.

He's full of it. Dave and his know-it-all ilk need to be stopped.

Have to say I watched the 'Wars a year or so back (borrowed the Holy Trilogy from Herge on VHS), and watched all 3 (there are only 3, really) back to back. It was great.

Disappointed that I didn't spurn a heated debate like this when I did a post on movies, but there you go, hats off to the Angry Chimp once again.

Oh, by the way, I'd like to mention that I'd rather watch the LOTR movies than read the books any day. I've tried and failed 3 times to get into them now. Tolkein had great ideas, just couldn't put them down on paper all that well.

Unknown said...

Ship Creak,

I lend you my daughter's copy of 'The Gruffalo', if you're having probs with LOTR.

Sniffy said...

Big as in BIG. You've had Tiger Timbo, but that's nothing compared to what's on its way...

Herge Smith said...

Nice one edwaado.

Tina - sooo can't wait.

Jessie said...

I'm morally obliged to like LOTR. I did nearly fall asleep in the second one, though.

weenie said...

Not like Star Wars OR Lord of the Rings???

I didn't think people like you existed!(hmmm, perhaps I should venture out of my bubble every now and again, to see what the real world is like...)

Kenny said...

Weenie -- the real world is vastly over-rated.
