Tina, I have a lovely bit of kit called WinDVD platinum (illegally downloaded no-less - ha ha ha breakin' the law, breakin' the law) and I simply grab frames from the Star Wars DVD's.
Sweet as a nut.
As for the cut scenes, well, you just need to know where to look.
Actually I do have a 1977 Star Wars annual. In fact I pretty much have a Star Wars everything (original and PROPER Star Wars only, of course).
In the opening sequence there was this hand that opened up in stop motion, palm forward, with freaky symbols inked all over it. It scared the shit out of little me.

Did you like Blake's Seven too? And Space 1999? I loved those programmes, but I was never too keen on Star Trek.
Do you have Star Wars socks? I had Star Wars socks, but I don't any more.
Blakes 7!!! The hand! The hand!
Hmm, they were okay. Actually I didn't like Blake 7 but did like Space 1999.
I was obsessed OBSESSED with Star Wars when I was a kid, what comes of being the just the right age when it came out 6.
Star Trek is okay, it's a bit touchy feely now.
Better when kirk was kicking arse and fucking alien birds.
I had a very special Star Wars T-Shirt when i was boy, had a Stormtrooper on it.
No socks for me though.
My socks had an ankle emblem of Darth Vader's helmet glowering behind an uplooking Luke with sabre readied. Oh I wish I had my Star Wars socks still.
Star Trek now is beyond watching. Touchy feely? It's like Coronation Street. I can't be bothered with it.
Blake's 7 was rubbish. But the hand...
What was the hand?

Fuck yeah, that was cool.
I did like the costumes - gas masks and green headbands.
Exactly! They made me so scared that I hardly noticed how crap the show was. And that's why I love it. In some ways.
yeah, I always thought that's what he's saying.
to butt in on your conversation here, I had a James Bond Moonraker sleeping bag!
Moonraker sleeping bag huh? So you could literally get inside Roger Moore...
(raises one eyebrow).
